I passionately and authentically speak from the intersection of data, experience, and community.
Moving the Data Culture Elephant
Organizations are going through a culture change with data and now decisions at every level need to be made by harnessing data and analytics. This session goes through how to change data culture and sustains it so that your organization starts really mining data gold. Organizations are like elephants in they are slow to change and quick to defend themselves. In this session we will discuss how culture can change around data by harnessing data literacy backed by the power of behavioral science, experience design, and organizational development.
The Human Side of Data
We leverage data (“data science”, “AI”,…) to make decisions, enhance our products, and influence others yet data is imperfect just like humans. Stop! Don't throw the data out with the bath water. But, also don't blindly go with instinct. In this session we will discuss how we can: 1) understand human perception differences and how to leverage these; 2) deal with biases and uncertainty and make decisions in spite of these; and 3) use data to influence others and at same time balancing instinct and discerning thought.
The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Data Viz
Together let's explore the different ways we employ data visualization in our lives, our products, and our stories and find out where and why we succeed and fall short. After hitting on data viz tips and tricks, this session will go through a number of examples that show the good, bad, and ugly of data visualization.
