At first glance, a bass player and Scrum Master appear to have nothing in common. The correlations begin to surface as we dig deeper and look at the core traits that drive success for each job. It took many years for me to see the connection but I believe that my role as a bass player is analogous and complementary to my professional life as an Agile Coach. The correlations go deeper than just the servant leader role. Music is part of the human condition, and as Longfellow once stated “music is the universal language of mankind”. Deepening our understanding and appreciation of music can provide tools that can be used to create unique connections with our colleagues and team members.
