Bursting with energy and excitement, Dr. Macie Smith is sure to activate and inspire the minds of those who care for yours. Through her comedic authentically real approach, Dr. Smith encourages others to care for others with compassion and purpose without compromise or guilt.

From corporate collaboratives to individualized care, Dr. Smith's untraditional unapologetic way of approaching difficult subjects is informative, understandable, relatable, applicable, translational, and life changing.

Dr. Macie P. Smith is a Licensed Social Worker, Gerontologist, Guardian Ad Litem, an award-winning writer and Alzheimer’s/dementia educator, Author, and TV Personality with over 22+ years of experience working with aging and vulnerable populations in South Carolina.

Dr. Smith earned her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University and has published professional articles in reputable journals to include The Gerontologist. In addition, Dr. Smith is a college professor and subject matter expert focusing her talents in the areas of health care, health administration, social sciences, and public health. She is the owner of Diversified Training Consultants Group, a Geriatric Care Management and Training Group, and the author of A Dementia Caregiver’s Guide to Care.

Dr. Smith has received national and international recognition for her work on dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and family caregiving related causes. She has educated, trained, and provided caregiver coaching to 8,000+ family caregivers and heath care practitioners across the globe on accessing long term care support services, caring for persons living with dementia and/or cognitive impairment, and coordinating quality care within aging and underserved communities.

Dr. Smith has been recognized as a Top 20 Under 40 leader by the South Carolina Black Pages Magazine for her work as a community and industry change agent. She has been featured on WACH FOX 57, WIS-TV's Awareness, WLTX, ABC Columbia, WFMV, WGCV, Alzheimer's Speaks Radio, and WURD radio.

Introduction to Caregiver Dementia Strategies

Did you know? 10,000 baby boomers are turning age 65 every single day. The aging baby boomer generation could fuel a 75% increase in the number of Americans needing caregivers or requiring nursing home care. The demand for elder care will also be fueled by a steep rise in the number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, which by 2050 could reach 14 million (AARP 2020). Given these statistics, the need for presentations like Introduction to Caregiver Dementia Strategies is essential.

The Art of Passionate Care

Currently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s related dementia. This brain-robbing disease has the potential to cripple families’ physical, emotional, and financial health. Therefore, quality dementia education is needed. While there is not a CURE, there is CARE.
