Dr. Ernesto Moralez, an acclaimed Assistant Professor of Public Health and a Certified Health Education Specialist, is a prominent figure in public health education. His story, rooted in the rich cultural tapestry of New Mexico, showcases his unwavering commitment to learning and his pursuit of excellence in public health.
Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, his life was significantly influenced by his diverse familial background. His mother, a resilient Mexican immigrant, and his father, a San Jose State University graduate in Social Work, imparted values that deeply resonated with him, shaping his professional motivations and personal virtues.
He began his academic journey at Albuquerque Technical Institute, now known as Central New Mexico Community College. His pursuit of higher education led him to Hunter College in New York City, initially focusing on Sociology. However, his path took a decisive turn when he discovered his passion for public health at New Mexico State University. This revelation led to him obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Human and Community Services in 2007.
His dedication to public health continued as he enrolled in the Master's program in Public Health at NMSU, completing it in 2009. His academic endeavors were complemented by an enriching internship at the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, contributing significantly to his graduate thesis. 2015, Dr. Moralez achieved a landmark in his educational journey by earning a Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Science from the University of Colorado Denver.
