Bio

I split my time between desk and travel. I am a public speaker, presenter, performer, and conference facilitator specializing in Open Space Technology. I've run small focused conventions all over North America and Europe, with occasional clients that fall in the larger end of the event spectrum. At the same time I've been working in digital media for the last twenty years and have become proficient in translating the real-life experiences into words, sound, and video on the web. I'm fortunate to be able to work on both my personal projects such as LoveLifePractice and with fantastic clients to bring their messages to the web.

Specialties: Open Space Facilitation, AltSex, polyamory, and consent education, event planning, education & training, public speaking, copywriting, blogging, narration, social media strategy

Consent Rocks! Towards a Better Understanding of Consent Incidents"

This class gives an overview of the current challenges facing the alternative lifestyle communities and the ways they can be improved. The material draws from contemporary research in consent issues done by the NCSF and other groups, as well as practical experiences from Consent Rocks Crews in the field. Along the way it can broaden and deepen the understanding of consent incidents beyond the simplistic "law & order" mentality into a more inclusive understanding of the trauma and needs of those involved.Based on the

Woo Woo WTF: Romantic Energy for Skeptics

When it works, great chemistry between people can be a profoundly moving experience, sometimes described as “touching the divine.” But if “the divine” is not part of your worldview, you can be left wondering what the hell it was that you touched!
Gray uses this class to explore non-spiritual contexts for understanding “romantic energy,” from neurochemistry to Eastern medicine to neurolinguistic programming and evolutionary models. More importantly, the class will help you make informed decisions about consent and dealing with that energy when it happens in a constructive way for both yourself and your partner.
You don’t have to ignore it when the woo happens, nor does it have to freak you out. Knowledge is power, and learning how to get what you want out of the weird stuff that happens when your heart leads the way can add a powerful tool to your relationship skillset.

Intimacy & Vulnerability in Alternative Relationships

There is a lot of focus on trust in relationships, but there’s another quality that is necessary for intimacy: the discomfort and risk of vulnerability from all sides of the relationship. Can you risk being all of yourself, even the parts that you aren’t proud of? Can you still believe your partner will love you even after they know you? Authenticity carries risk. This class explores some of the barriers to intimacy, including things we often substitute for the scary feeling of “being in the mess together”. Drawing on the work of experts on vulnerability such as Brené Brown as well as hard-learned personal experience, Gray leads the discussion of how to take the plunge and fully realize the potential of an intimate relationship.

Holding Space: Open Space Technology

Developed by Harrison Owen, this is a peer-to-peer learning system that can be used by any group to encourage the exploration of topics that aren't found through traditional workshops or conferences. The process is relatively simple, based on four principles and one law, but the rewards and processes they create can be life-changing. Gray has been facilitating these events since 2007 all over North America and Europe, and this workshop will teach participants not only how to create their own but also experience it for themselves.

Crypto-Kink: Security and Your AltSex Identity

In today's "always-online" world members of marginalized and altsex communities have more tools than ever before to connect, organize, and explore their unique identities. At the same time, surveillance and privacy concerns are more prevalent than ever. This workshop is based on the research of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and "Crypto-Parties" combined with Gray's personal experience in altsex communities. It gives simple, actionable steps for evaluating your risk profile and taking steps - in ascending order of "tin-foil-hattedness" - to better secure your online personas.

  • I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Miller present multiple times, both to intimate groups and large crowds. He’s an engaging story teller and a passionate presenter. He is also reflective—a characteristic that’s critical to good pedagogy. I have no hesitation to recommend him as a teacher or speaker.
