My passion for communicating and connecting began in my early years at Wake Forest University. While my friends seemingly chose their respective majors with ease, I remember intensely contemplating my options. My father suggested “Speech Communications” and, without hesitation, I embraced his recommendation wholeheartedly! These skills would serve me in all walks of life, opening key doors and aligning the path towards my dream. I realized the importance of learning how to connect with people in a variety of circumstances (public speaking, group communications, and one-to-ones). This focus allowed me to appreciate the dynamics of communications and to recognize the overall value of connecting on all levels, enabling me to become a better leader.
I devoted the next seven years of my life to serving our country as an Army Logistics Officer. I truly learned the value of leadership in terms of the awesome responsibilities associated with it. Defending our most treasured freedoms on a daily basis was always the mission, yet accomplishing that mission was futile without earning and building the trust of the incredible men and women I was honored to lead. This became one of my most powerful and imprinted life lessons.
The military had prepared a strong platform for me to transition my leadership and training skills to the corporate world. I dedicated the next thirteen years of my life to one company, ascending the management ranks and building teams along the way. It was a memorable and valuable time in my professional career, as I sharpened practical skills in the fields of logistics and safety compliance. More importantly, as the company expanded and my responsibilities increased, my leadership development and training skills were peaking as well.
This led me to trailblaze into the exciting life as an entrepreneur. Although it was out of my comfort zone and risky, it was an important step in my leadership development. I explored the fields of health coaching, vocational instructing, as well as safety training and compliance. Although filled with triumphs and challenges, being an entrepreneur generated such rewarding personal growth satisfaction and opportunities. It essentially secured my desire to serve others in unraveling the complexities of leadership and to uncover their true North. This experience culminated in the formation my company, Envision Enterprise.
