Looking for a dynamic and engaging speaker who can help you navigate the complex and rapidly-changing world of technology and the implications of technological development? Look no further than Iris Nevins, a technology thought leader, educator, and advocate for diversity in tech.
Iris is passionate about preparing diverse professionals for the future of work. Automation, AI, and other innovations are changing the social, economic, and cultural landscape with major implications for workers, business owners, students, families, and governments.
After studying economics and Black history at Pomona College, Iris became a K-12 social studies teacher by day and an activist by night. As an educator, Iris used technology to innovate in the classroom including successfully getting students at a small private school to be the first students in school history to pass the AP US history exam.
Iris then went on to become a software engineer and then an engineering manager at tech companies like Mailchimp and Vox Media.
Eventually, Iris decided to launch her own business that incubates and grows digital communities. Iris believes that digital communities will eventually become the primary way that people meet their education, career, and social needs.
Iris is a talented writer and storyteller who draws from her wide range of life experiences to shed insight on important topics including digital literacy, the future of work, STEM education, emerging tech, and DEI.
Using real-world examples and personal experiences Iris Nevins can help audiences understand the role, power, and importance of emerging technologies, STEM education, and DEI now and in the future.
