I starting my first company at 28. Now, 23 years later, I’ve bought and sold a dozen companies, generated $100s of millions in sales, and managed more than 10k employees. I did what I teach others to do: I took advantage of opportunities as they presented themselves.
I have nine brothers and sisters; I’m number seven. I come from poverty, stealing food as a little kid; got my first tax-paying job at eleven working at a local restaurant, saw my first murder at 15, and was living on the streets at 17. Starting with that first job at 11, and over the next 17 years, I went from one job to another, moving whenever someone would pay me more. I have had two life-changing epiphanies in my life, one at 14 and the other at 28 that are the roadmaps for where I am today. I make no excuses, and I am who I am not only BECAUSE of where I come from, but also DESPITE it.
In spite of having no support system or encouragement, and with skills I learned the hard way, I was able to thrive.
I have bought businesses with cash and debt, built multi-million dollar per year companies with no financing, took ownership of bankrupt companies, and sold them for 6 and 7-figures years later. I’ve developed software, ran operations, led sales teams, trained managers, and got financed every kind and type of real estate and equipment, to name just a few of the areas where I have practical expertise.
Some of the businesses I have owned, or still hold, include transportation, home building, real estate development, owned and managed hundreds of thousands of feet of industrial buildings, gas stations, car washes, convenience stores, and a management company. I’ve bought competitors, scaled businesses, and made and lost a fortune multiple times. I know how to win, make money, and, most importantly, learn how to survive a loss.
I know how to deal with the crippling anxiety, stress, fatigue, and loneliness that is the cornerstone for any business owner.
With this background, I am on a mission to let as many people understand what is possible. Understand that, regardless of where you come from, what level of education you attained, and regardless if you have any practicable experience, you can achieve the unimaginable!
My story resonates because so many people can identify with it. Maybe not as extreme as my background, but certainly the lack of the "tools" that we are constantly being told we need to have to get what we want. Regardless of what someone is looking for, be it becoming a better student, employee, entrepreneur, spouse, or person, It is my sincere hope that I am able to help and inspire you towards that goal.
