My story is not special or unique, and would likely make for a boring autobiography. I’m just like you, relatable in so many ways.
The truth is that you’ve landed on my story for one reason: because I’ve found my calling, and I would love to help you find yours.
My Brief Story – I’m a 20 year intense Business Traveler with a passion for: Sales, Leadership, Fitness, Family, and Football. I strive to help Special Needs Citizens and their Families live out their Joy and Purpose. And, most of all, I love walking through this life with Jesus by my side.
The Longer Story – Through college, the majority of my decisions and motivation were driven by football. I didn’t ever really know much about the college that I selected, other than they had a good football team and would allow me to play. College is where I began to find myself, my strengths, and more importantly……….my future wife.
We got married young, jumped into careers young, bought our first house young, and started a family young. And BAM!!! – that’s when our world got flipped upside down. When our daughter was somewhere between 12 and 36 months old (my wife and I disagree on her exact age) we discovered that she had special needs. This kicked off what would end up being the 5 most difficult years of our marriage. Somewhere during that time our oldest son was born……… a time in which memories and even pictures are limited due to the unfamiliarity of our new life. Overlay this with the fact that my career path had brought me to a place where I was traveling every week………..seriously, every week.
Fast forward to now: Amy and I have been married for 17 years, Mabry is 18, Jack is 16, and Slater is 12. I still travel a lot for work, but we’ve learned as a family how to make that work for us. And the family knows that when they need me home, I’ll be home……….whether it’s for a day or a month. We have embraced our role as a Special Needs Family, and we understand what comes with that. It’s harder than any words can describe……….but we’re not here for a pity party. Amy and I believe that God has equipped us to be her parents, and Jack and Slater to be her brothers. But – we will not let this define us.
We each have a purpose………a story to write………and a role to play. I hope that my story and experience can help you discover your what, where, why, and how.
