Bio

Josh Levs is known to millions for his motivational speeches and leadership as a male advocate for gender equality and modern fathers. This follows 20 years of reporting to national and global audiences on TV, radio, and online. Now he has added author to his resume -- with the widely acclaimed book All In: How Our Work-First Culture Fails Dads, Families and Businesses -- And How We Can Fix It Together.

One of the nation’s most booked speakers, he has delivered keynotes at dozens of major events and businesses, including Google, Twitter, the Bay Area Women’s Summit, the Power Shift Forum for Women in the World Economy, the Forward Technology Conference, GE, Barclaycard, and many more. He won a debate at the historic Oxford Union and has lectured at Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, and other prestigious universities. At the Texas and Massachusetts Conferences for Women, he co-presented with Liberty Mutual. Levs also moderates panels, interviews celebrities and hosts all kinds of events.

Levs spent 20 years reporting for NPR, CNN, and the Voice of America, reaching some of the biggest audiences in all of broadcasting. On CNN, he was called “Truth Seeker in Chief,” “Mr. Reality,” and “Senior Everything Correspondent.” Named “one of the most social media-savvy journalists in broadcast news” by PBS, he helped pioneer the use of social media and new technologies in TV reporting. He has collected many of the biggest honors in his field, including six Peabody Awards, two Edward R. Murrow Awards, and awards from duPont-Columbia, the National Association of Black Journalists, and more. A scholarship was awarded in his name at Yale University, his alma mater.

As a columnist and speaker, Levs shares his story of repeatedly achieving dreams that many people told him were impossible, and rising up against struggles -- including with his health and that of his wife and children.

Through inspiring, humorous, heartfelt talks that often include video clips, Levs shares the keys to finding inspirations, overcoming obstacles, and bringing dreams to life.

About his book

New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow called All In “fantastic;” the Washington Post’s Brigid Schulte called it a “must read;” the Chicago Tribune called it “fascinating,” and Forbes asked in a headline, “Can This Man Get Corporate America To Rethink An Anti-Dad Culture?” It was named one of the top books of 2015 by NewsOne and won a Nautilus Gold award. The Financial Times named Levs one of the top 10 male feminists. U.N. Women named him a Global Gender Champion and tapped him to be a part of the HeForShe campaign. And the New York Times, in a front-page story, referred to him as “a pioneer.”

Levs tells his own story of taking on a policy at Time Warner that prevented him from being able to care for his newborn, preemie daughter and sick wife. As a result of his legal action and the publicity surrounding it, the company revolutionized its policy.

How Businesses Succeed by Helping Parents Be ALL IN

The American family has changed dramatically from previous generations. But the structures that dictate family life -- our laws, policies, and stigmas -- haven't kept up. They're hurting workers and businesses. There are simple solutions that help make workers more loyal and more productive while protecting, and even boosting, businesses' bottom lines. Josh Levs lays the path forward.

Breaking the System to Achieve the Impossible

Josh Levs' story is one of constantly disproving naysayers and overcoming the odds. He created his own on-air roles at both NPR and CNN, launched a unique agency, and got one of the biggest corporations on earth to revolutionize its parental leave policy. How does he do it? Through a trademarked system called "Be the Cups and Ice." It's a message that drew effusive responses to his TEDx Talk.

The Truth about the ‘Modern Major Media

It’s a whole new ballgame. Newspapers, TV and radio are giving way to a new era of journalism in which the end user -- the consumer -- is more powerful than ever. The change is inevitable. The key is for consumers and journalists to use the changes for good. And that requires “Five Crucial Steps” we must take together.
