After working several years with persons with serious mental illness, Julie saw a need for and developed the Anger Solutions™ Program, which has been the mainstay of Leverage U's offerings since 1994. She is the author of several books including Anger Solutions: Proven Strategies for Effectively Resolving Anger; Getting Past Your Past; Bullying is not a Game; and Anger Solutions by the Book. She is an international speaker and trainer, having presented to audiences across Canada, in the United States, the Caribbean, and in Europe.
Julie's lifelong personal and corporate mission is to leverage people and organizations into open communication, so they can live free of conflict, tension, anger, and fear. She has fulfilled this mission in several ways over the years: as a mental health worker and case manager, an international public speaker and corporate trainer, a youth employment counsellor, an adjunct professor of Forensic Psychology and other subjects, and most recently, as a Registered Psychotherapist.
Julie's holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and English from the University of Ottawa, and a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She is a member in good standing of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP), Ontario Society for Adlerian Psychology (ONSAP), the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists, and Psychometrists (OACCPP) and she is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. In addition to public speaking, training, and publishing, Julie has a full-time private practice in counselling and psychotherapy (est. 2010) located in the Niagara Region.
Julie is a sought-after subject matter expert in the areas of anger, stress, bullying, and topics relating to forensic psychology. She has appeared on various print, radio, and television media outlets including CBC Radio and TV, CTS Television, CHRI Ottawa, WVON Chicago, CKTB Niagara, WDCX Buffalo, CHCH TV, Rogers TV, and Corus Entertainment. She has consulted for The Anderson Cooper Show, CBS Studios, and for scripted and unscripted television programs in development. She is currently consulting role for a scripted TV drama in development.
