Kathy Sparrow is an international best-selling, award-winning author, leadership expert, message strategist, writing/publishing consultant and university professor. Her passion is to assist individuals to discover their authentic presence, embrace change with a sense of adventure, and express themselves with confidence, awareness, and courage, using the tools of writing, fly fishing, and intentional conversation.
She is the co-author of the international best-selling book, "Ignite Your Leadership: Proven Tools for Leaders to Energize Teams, Fuel Momentum, and Accelerate Results." Her chapter “The Power of Your Story: Discovering Your Why, Dissolving Your Why Nots,” emphasizes the importance of leaders knowing their “why” to influence those around them to be more engaged and productive at work. She explains that when the “why nots” are addressed, we remedy the imbalances created when we’re seeking the approval of others––which many of us do––and in doing so hide our true gifts from the world.
Kathy’s chapter, “It’s All in the Cast—A Fly Fisher’s Guide to Leadership” appears in the best-selling anthology "The Innovators: Revolutionary Ideas from Today’s Consulting Leaders." She explains how the mastery sport of fly fishing acts as a mirror for life and when engaged with awareness is an amazing self-development tool. Her next book, "It’s All in the Cast: A Fly Fisher’s Guide to Leadership, Sales, & Optimal Performance,” outlines an innovative leadership program for CEOs and their teams, as well as individuals seeking to have a greater presence in their lives so they experience more meaning, joy, and connection with others.
Once one of the few female saltwater fly fishing guides in the nation, Kathy is the author of "On the Mother Lagoon: Fly Fishing and the Spiritual Journey" and "The Whispered Teachings of Grandmother Trout," touted as the feminine version of "A River Runs Through It."
Known as a “behind the scenes secret weapon," Kathy assists aspiring writers of self-development, leadership, and consulting with crafting their messages and guiding them through the publishing process.
Kathy has trained extensively in the realm of narrative theory and leadership, with a focus on self- mastery. She is a Certified Canfield Trainer in Jack Canfield’s Success Principles and serves on his assisting team. She is also a Master RIM® facilitator, an evolutionary mind/body tool used to overcome limitations and self-sabotaging behaviors, often associated with trauma. She holds a Master’s degree in English with an emphasis in literature and cultural studies. She teaches marketing for writers at Southern New Hampshire University and has instructed in First-Year Writing programs at the University of Texas-Pan American, Southwestern Community College, and National University.
Kathy is Media Lead for Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing-Colorado Springs, which provides fly fishing experiences to disabled veterans and disabled active duty.
