LaKeysha Andrews Mattis knows what it is to start from the bottom and rise to the top. She is a native of South Central Los Angeles, a place where positivity was a rare commodity when she was going up. Every day she both witnessed gang violence, drug addiction, bullying, and police brutality. Despite the despair that she faced on a daily basis, she made a choice to rise above the status quo and to push forward to accomplish what seemed impossible.
Her grandmother played an instrumental part in her gaining the courage to try to be and do the best she could to reach her highest achievement because every day upon leaving the house to go to
school her grandmother would calmly remind her to go to school
and make A’s, to not talk to strangers, and that she could do
anything that she set her mind to do.
Even with all of the negativity and destruction that surrounded Ms. Mattis, the words of her grandmother echoed in her spirit and stayed with her, gave her hope and penetrated her soul
to dare to dream that she would one day make it out of the “hood” and be more than a conqueror.
Ms. Mattis is a powerhouse speaker with the ability to captivate her audience and inspire them to
rise above their hardships into brilliance. Her stage presence is bold and mesmerizing and her passion to motivate and inspire is remarkable and unwavering. She has a passion for helping youth and adults alike to recognize and harness their greatness.
She believes that each person is fearfully and wonderfully and that it is important to work with individuals, families, and communities to ensure that they are on the right track to get to their final destination. Ms. Mattis knows what it is like to lose everything and have nothing left to give. She
shares how she gained resilience and strength to get through her struggles. Now, she wishes to share
her message and hope to others that you are able to rise from the ashes and rejuvenate, renew, and reinvent yourself.
Her message is to inspire you that you too can rise from the ashes...the hardships, heartaches, and trouble that you can sometimes find yourself a part of and that can take you by surprise and leave
you in despair. It is her hope that you would allow her to feed your mind, spirit, body, and soul with hope for the future. It is her hope that no matter what the situation, you will be able to find a glimpse
of hope and begin to rebuild your life for the better.
Her mantra is, “Started from the bottom, now rising to the top, despite all odds still I rise! Be Brilliance! Last, her main goal is to empower, educate, and advance her clients through RESET workshops, online trainings, podcasting and speaking engagements.
