Lee Smart is an actor, comedian, improviser, writer, facilitator, host and an alumnus of the famed Second City Main Stage in Toronto, Canada. With a career spanning more than two decades, Lee is a recipient of the Canadian Comedy Award for his work on stage at Second City, as well as the Gemini Award for Best Comedy Writing for television.
Lee is the ‘Smart’ of SmartLeese Creative and partner to Lindsay Leese, offering training, creative services, and keynote sessions, together they share valuable improv practices that focus on the skills that promote teamwork, engagement, spontaneity, creative thinking and, of course, a serious amount of fun!
Lee is the creator, writer and star of the critically acclaimed Comedy Network series, The 5th Quadrant and can also be heard improvising over 10 seasons of his award-nominated sci-fi comedy podcast “Illusionoid” (available on Apple Podcasts) created with fellow improvisers Paul Bates and Nug Nahrgang.
Recently, Lee was cast in the production “An Undiscovered Shakespeare” a fully-improvised three-act play, at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, and can currently be seen improvising in iambic pentameter in Stratford’s stratfest@home production of “Undiscovered Sonnets”.
