The Business Case for Supporting Employees who have Caregiving Responsibilities
When employers recognize and support the needs of caregiving employees, it is good for people and good for business. There are 3.3 million caregivers in Ontario - ordinary people of all ages who provide physical and emotional support to a family member, partner, friend or neighbor. Without them, the health care system would not function. The majority are employed they make up 35% of the Canadian workforce, yet often remain hidden and unrecognized at work. Caregiving employees often face stress, financial difficulties, isolation and an impact on their physical and mental health. The impact on employers is significant. Lost productivity, absenteeism, staff turnover, and loss of skilled, experienced employees are just some of the costs and consequences. With demographic changes and a shift to home and community-based health care, the issue is growing. Join us for this one-hour session presented by the Ontario Caregiver Organization to learn more about this critical workforce issue and the action steps that you can take.
