The top factor preventing adults from learning to swim is fear. Eighty percent of drownings in America are by adults. Panic is undoubtedly the main cause. Learning strokes is not learning to swim. Conventionally trained instructors teach strokes, unaware that it is not what students need or want. Instructors need to retrained to meet the needs of afraid-in-water adults. The solution is a fascinating surprise.
