Bio

Misha Engineer has significant experience with building resilience. From NHS doctor to joining the family business to starting her own high-growth, social impact business, achieving considerable success and selling her stake within 6 years of inception; Misha has been recognised independently by the London Business School Review as one of the ‘30 People Changing the World’.

Misha started her career as a doctor in the NHS, then transitioned to working in her family business – a medium sized generics pharmaceutical company. She then went on to complete her MBA at London Business School before starting her first business, Fontus Health, a social impact pharmaceutical company focussing on providing cost effective, high quality medicines to the health service. Since selling her stake in the business, she has been involved in her other businesses that focus on Research and Development of a new drug as well as the re-discovery and repurposing of generic drugs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she concentrated her efforts on the provision of PPE to frontline organisations and was recognised for this in the Think at London Business School magazine for ’10 Ways to Respond to a Pandemic’.

Misha also has a track record of success as a Board Member at the Prince’s Trust for the RISE Campaign and as a volunteer mentor to children through the charity, Chance UK. She is enormously passionate about the provision of quality social care, opportunities and access to mentorship within some of our most deprived communities in order to transform lives.

She has a passion for motivational speaking, touching on her experience of hitting rock bottom and her journey to success and happiness. She has spoken at various events and conferences sharing her insights with a wide variety of audiences from young people from deprived backgrounds to entrepreneurs and business leaders to healthcare professionals and academics, due to her ability to speak on a breadth of topics e.g. Power Dynamics in the Workplace, The Importance of Failure in Order to Succeed, How to Make Your First Million and Ultimate Performance, Social Impact Business, The Future of Healthcare Delivery and Psychedelics: Realising their Potential to Treat Mental Health.

She brings charisma, passion and warmth to her audiences. When speaking on healthcare topics, she is always well prepared and has a particular skill in being able to get to the heart of the issue in order to generate lively and thought-provoking discussions. Whilst drawing on her personal experience of challenges, building resilience and ultimately success, Misha inspires, motivates and heartens her audience.

Adversity and Building Resilience

My personal story of hitting rock bottom, experiencing adversity then building resilience in order to succeed.

The Importance of Failure in Order to Succeed

The importance of honesty, self-reflection and insightfulness in order to analyse where and why we failed and how to learn from this to come back stronger to achieve success.

How to Make Your First Million/Ultimate Performance Mindset

The importance of passion, self-belief and resilience in order to succeed. What makes most successful people great is their ability to judge risk, their ability to learn from failures and their ability to recover. The focal point cannot just be the million, it has to be purpose. The superficial signs of success won't make you happy or heal your internal trauma and they won't define your self-worth alone. You need to find your purpose in order to make a positive difference in the world. For me it is about being spiritual. Spirit without matter is expressionless and matter without spirit is motionless. (Dr Demartini).

How to Respond to Crisis – My Reflections and Experiences from the COVID-19 pandemic

My reflections and experiences on crisis management and providing PPE to frontline organisations through the Covid-19 crisis. The pandemic highlighted two main things for me:
1. We must be able to be more agile and adaptable quickly.
2. We must re-evaluate the way we think about risk.

Power Dynamics in the Workplace

Power dynamics are something I have faced a lot of over the last decade and continue to face. There are many episodes when someone more powerful, in whatever way that might be, be it financial or influential, holds the control, or so it may seem. I discuss the ways in which we can harness the power we hold within ourselves in order to take control of our destinies.

Social Impact Business

I can describe my experience in setting up a social impact pharmaceutical business that made available high quality healthcare/pharmaceutical products cost effectively. The importance of sustainability and being profitable in order to build a social impact business which will have a legacy and continue to have positive impact going forwards. Finally, I can give advice of do's and don't for young entrepreneurs in the social impact space.
