Bio

Myra is a writer and speaker who helps people to “Enjoy Life and Do Good” by working with purpose, living with passion and making a difference.

With over 20 years’ experience in keynotes, corporate training and writing, Myra is author of “Mama Always Says…” and “Musings on Major and Minor Matters that May or May not Matter” and co-author of “The Sun Sisters Guide to the Girlfriends Perfect Beach Vacation and CLIMB: Leading Women in Technology Share Their Journeys to Success.

Myra’s blog at www.EnjoyLifeAndDoGood.com emphasizes three areas: Work with Purpose, Live with Passion and Make a Difference. She also writes a blog at www.RecreatingJoy.com to help widows and widowers to “Build a Life You Love after Losing the Love of Your Life.”

In my many years as a corporate trainer and speaker, Myra worked with clients such as Coca-Cola, AT&T, Delta Technology and Porsche Cars North America. She traveled the US speaking to audiences across a broad spectrum of industries including banking, healthcare, hospitality, telecommunications, transportation and many more.

Myra speaks for companies, associations and conferences and is often asked to do keynote or breakout sessions on topics related to women in the workplace. Women’s groups are a favorite audience. Having interviewed over 100 executive women and served on the boards of various women’s organizations over the years has given her a breadth of knowledge about women in the workplace and lifestyle issues specific to women.

Myra’s advice is often quoted in national and trade publications such as Investor's Business Daily, The Employment Review, McCall’s, Woman's World, PowerSelling, Healthcare Industry Executive, Value Retail News, The Employment Review, The Executive Report on Customer Retention, and The Atlanta Journal and Constitution. Radio and TV stations consider her a highly credible guest. She has appeared on WSB-TV and GPTV in Atlanta, WKMX Radio in St. Louis and WPCH Radio in Atlanta.

When not writing or speaking, Myra is active in her community through various non-profit organizations and participating in fundraising events for brain tumor research. For fun she enjoys travel, entertaining, stimulating conversation, clever repartee and laughter

She helps you plan for better engagement at events as she dishes up usable networking tips, shares how to get big results from small-talk, and outlines practical and easy ways to find the fortune in the follow-up.

Women in the Workplace

Myra is a tremendous resource for professional women. During the past fifteen years she has interviewed approximately 100 female trailblazers, served on the boards of more than six non-profit organizations serving women and been involved with numerous business women’s networking groups. Whether you want to discuss challenges women face in climbing the corporate ladder, life balance, a ‘Women’s History Month’ talk or to hear about women she’s interviewed in “Lessons that Last from Women Who Were First” Myra can inspire, encourage and entertain the women in your group or at your conference as she shares wisdom, insights and stories.

The Wit and Grit of Resilience

No matter what sort of transition your group is dealing with, upheavals are deep in the un-fun zone. Many people don’t handle transition well, and Myra believes that’s because they don’t know how. In this program, she shares deeply personal stories and shows your audience not just how to overcome life’s inevitable downs, but how to fix their focus, find courage under the fear, pull from hidden reserves of resilience and redefine their circumstance. Her encouragement, humor and Southern sass will guide your group through whatever ails them.
Myra draws on her own experience of learning to survive the un-survivable after losing her husband to a brain tumor. She’ll share how she used her own grit and wit to pull herself from the depths of grief and loss to reclaim her purpose and reinvent her life.
You’ll learn how to:
 Reframe your focus
 Redefine the role of grief
 Reconcile fear and courage
 Renew your strength
 Re-energize yourself
 Recreate joy in your life

  • Myra is a nimble speaker, especially during Q and A – very engaging. I featured her as a speaker twice. Both times, she connected well and took over the room. She has this quick wit one moment, and a deep, really moving quality the next. My audience laughed, took down serious notes, clapped loudly and formed a line after the presentation. As an event producer, I can rely on Myra as a professional – well-prepared and very, very familiar with the terrain of entertaining and educating audiences.
