Former Harlem Globetrotter Showman, Nate “Big Easy” Lofton gets his nickname from growing up in New Orleans and his easy-going nature. Despite his nickname, nothing was easy about what Big Easy has been through growing up in New Orleans and having to overcome repeated adversities. Arguably the biggest, was surviving Hurricane Katrina and being forced to evacuate in Houston. As fate would have it, while he was in Houston, Big Easy was given a tryout by the Globetrotters and then offered a spot on the team. "One of the most difficult times in my life turned into an unbelievably positive twist of fate”. While with the Globetrotters Big Easy was an advanced ambassador, going out to speak to schools, churches, and community centers for 17 consecutive years! He enjoys that part of his job the most! “Telling my story letting the kids know that it doesn’t matter what happens you can overcome!”
Big Easy appeared on tv shows such as, “The Amazing Race”, Disney XD's "Kickin' It," "The Price is Right," "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?", Good Morning America, The Starters on TNT, NBA Game Time on NBA TV, Jimmy Kimmel Live , and Jimmy Fallon. Big Easy had guest appearances in commercials for Geico and Pistachio. Additionally, Big Easy was the host of the Mid-American Emmy Awards and a guest speaker at National Stop the Violence Convention.
Before the Harlem Globetrotters, Big Easy, was a two-time All-Southland Conference selection at Southeastern Louisiana University and lead the Lions to winning consecutive conference titles and their first ever NCAA tournament appearance. After retiring in 2021, Nate is now a Real Estate Agent, Basketball Trainer, and continues to influence others as a Motivational Speaker.
