Bio

Father. USMC Veteran. Optimist. Problem solver

Sparked by technology and the vast potential it offers, I am an observer, participant, evaluator and contributor of ideas. There is a responsibility to understand the use and application of technology and the effects on society, cultures and life. Technology can be found all around us. These effects have a great and powerful reach ranging to our youth, environmental conditions and even our evolution. I am fascinated by the response and direction individuals move in regards to the advances. Challenges are present in the form of misunderstanding, access, and the digital divide to name a few. These challenges exist within the US and around the world. As an active member of society, I support the ethical development and deployment of technology to advance our lives and enhance all areas of education, growth and prosperity.

A seasoned professional that is an experienced, focused, proven results-oriented leader that is committed to excellence while achieving goals and objectives with nearly 20 years growth and development in information systems. A change leader with empathy that attends to the values of being an effective communicator and active listener. Enjoys the challenge and interaction with the community while developing effective strategies to deliver qualified and measurable performance results. Technology leadership in project management, educational technology, and application analysis supported by experience in cultural identification, system comprehension and business models. Experience and ability to deliver positive change, developing a culture of communication, trust, accountability and integrity using superior team-oriented communication and interpersonal skills.

I am fascinated by the future and the potential ahead. Reflecting on the conversations of the digital native, I believe we have a generation which is more than immersed and well beyond exposed to technology. Many people on the planet will be born in and around technology. There are pockets of human beings which are may not ever be exposed to technology which is nearly impossible to imagine. The digital divide is only a gap after all, yet there may be worlds which separate digital experiences.

Thank you for reviewing my brief bio and taking time to know a little more about me. Please feel free to review more about me.

SDS: Expanding college classrooms into high schools via distance learning network

Presented at the Online Learning Consortium Innovate Conference 2016. The first Title III grant Northland Pioneer College (NPC) implemented to improve its distance learning environment was the Equitable Access to Gainful Experiences (EAGLE). This 5 year project faced many challenges including personnel changes in IT, unforeseen regulatory obstacles, cost, training, and faculty frustration. Some of the solutions implemented in this project were additional time built into the schedule, alternatives in the planning, seeking alternative resources, and promoting faculty technology literacy. The second Title III grant, Technology to Advance Learning Outcomes at Northland (TALON), will likely see new challenges that call for a solution design as the implementation of the project expands the college’s distance learning environment to the high school level across an expansive territory.
