---ABOUT THE SPEAKER---
Based in Florida, Rose is comfortable presenting in-person, online, and via pre-recorded video. Rose has been a speaker at numerous national and international conferences, law firms, and several universities across the nation, as well as tailored private engagements at Fortune 500 companies.
Rose has mentored many underrepresented minorities in STEM, co-founded diversity committees and Affinity Groups/ERGs for national organizations, developed many diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and led state-wide hurricane relief efforts. Rose has been honored with multiple accolades such as MLK Spirit Award, Extraordinary Latinas Connecting Community Award, Foundation for Science and Disability Student Grant, Distinguished Leadership Award, and recognized by the National Puerto Rican Day Parade as "Heroes de Puerto Rico.".
She has Puerto Rican and Mexican roots and holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, and an MSE and Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan. Dr. Figueroa is a Board Certified Human Factors Professional and Principal Consultant at an engineering consulting firm where she investigates accidents throughout the US and Mexico. Trailblazing the path for the past decade, Dr. Figueroa, Founder & CEO at belongIN.org, also serves as a DEI consultant, speaker, and workshop facilitator for Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, universities, and startups. She leverages her firsthand experience by being a part of several minority groups - Hispanic, female, with a disability in STEM - as well as her extensive education and expertise in Industrial Engineering and Human Factors to work closely with organizations to develop tailored DEI events/programs creating impactful and strategic DEI initiatives.
Dr. Figueroa has also led impactful philanthropic initiatives, including state-wide relief efforts. She serves in multiple international non-profit organizations. Dr. Figueroa has mentored/sponsored numerous students and early career professionals and organized multiple (well-attended) national events/programs. She has served on several boards, committees, and advisory councils, including the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and Human Factors & Ergonomics Society.
