Addressing the normalized culture of intolerance and the heightened sense “otherness,” this interactive workshop will offer insights for participants to use to advance beyond diversity and colorblindness into embracing the worldview of inclusivity, which holds that we are all inextricably linked. Using video, meditation, empathetic listening, and reflective discussions, participants will gain understanding of tools for recognizing and locating biases and dominant societal narratives that open up a pathway for societal healing and restoration and minimizing the perpetuation of guilt and shame. Using heart-opening exercises, we’ll practice listening and keeping the heart open to allow our creative capacities to unify us and bridge gaps in our understanding of others. This workshop is for all who are ready to BE the change in a heart-centered, active way, and lead the way in bringing about more harmony in our world and communities.
