Dr. Spero Lappas rose from poverty, family dysfunction, and a lack of opportunity to become one of the leading trial lawyers in Pennsylvania. He served as lead counsel in hundreds of important civil and criminal cases and has been honored in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World, America's Leading Lawyers, and The Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers.
His classic success story - position, prominence, and prestige - took an dramatic turn when at the age of fifty-eight he confronted the powerful realization that despite the rewards of his profession he was not living an authentic, fully integrated, life. Instead of conquering the life of his aspirations, he had become a passive rider on a runaway train of circumstance and routine. His desired destination - personal fulfilment - was nowhere on the route.
His breakthrough book "Conquer Life’s Frontiers" arose from his discovery that lack of personal fulfillment is an all-too-common human condition. We all have a specific something that we would love to do or be - something that once demanded our full attention but which has, over time, morphed into a nagging sense of incompleteness which we have learned to accept. Dr. Lappas responded to his own incompleteness by developing a personal action plan which allowed him to begin teaching and mentoring young people as a college professor. Having fulfilled his true passion, he wrote Conquer Life’s Frontiers to express his promise that you can fulfill yours too - and to show you how to do it
Lappas is a frequent community speaker and has taught at several colleges and universities. He has written for the Dickinson Law Review, the Champion Magazine, the Harrisburg Patriot News, The Burg Newspaper, The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, and The Encyclopedia of American Studies. He writes a regular column about personal happiness and contentment in Life in Forest Hills Magazine and his work will soon appear in Natural Awakenings. He has a PhD from Penn State, a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the Dickinson School of Law, and a BA (cum laude) from Allegheny College. He has two adult children, Doctor Thom Lappas and Attorney Alexandria Lappas, and one grandchild, Spero Edward Lappas. He is an artist, a prize-winning photographer, a tournament Scrabble champion, a world traveler, and a formerly nationally ranked three weapon fencer.
