or over a decade, Steph McGovern has been one of the most recognisable faces on TV, reporting from the worlds of international business and finance, including broadcasting from the Eurozone crisis meetings in Brussels and the Italian debt summits in Rome. She's a popular keynote speaker on economics, business and current affairs.
A former champion Irish dancer, Steph’s initial foray into the limelight began with a victory at the Young Engineer for Britain awards, in recognition of her design for a Leaf Hog product for Black & Decker, saving the company over £1m. Presenting her design on a programme about women in science, Steph was spotted by TV execs and was brought onto the Tomorrow's World production team, eventually working her way up to producing the financial news on Radio 4’s Today programme.
As lead producer of business news on all BBC bulletins during the financial crash, Steph found herself at the hub of the financial world, with her finger on the pulse of every story shaping the economic landscape.
Working with the then BBC business editor Robert Peston, it wasn’t long before Steph began broadcasting herself, presenting on 5Live and hosting her own slot - Steph’s Sunday Shift. Reporting from countless varied workplaces across the UK, including a nuclear power plant; a gas rig in the Irish Sea, and an air traffic control centre, Steph carved her place at the top of her game.
Also, a primetime television presenter, Steph reports for Watchdog and hosts two money programmes, BBC One’s Shop Well For Less and the children’s show on CBBC, Pocket Money Pitch.
Incredibly talented, intelligent and witty, Steph is the perfect awards host, conference facilitator and keynote speaker on economics, business and the current political landscape.
