More than a journalist, Terri is an intentional optimist convinced she's figured out the trick to living life with no regrets: do what you love, give love, lead with love. she can be found working out via Zumba or pole dancing, reciting her favorite affirmations, and covering her adorable kids in kisses.

But even more than a tireless researcher and esteemed journalist, Terri is a sensitive and fulfilled soul, real mother, and happy wife dedicated to finding joy and fulfillment exactly where she is, yet still eager for growth. Self Care tips for Moms that Don't Suck

Sleep when the baby sleeps is some of the worst parenting advice given. Yet, it's the one that gets tossed around often. (I wonder if people also say, "Do laundry when baby does laundry.")

Somewhat better advice is to have monthly date nights. While this is somewhat better advice, it's not always possible for those who are low on funds, have special needs kids, or have no support system.

The truth is most self-care advice is given from a place of privilege and rarely acknowledges difficulties with access. In this presentation, I will share self-care guidance that will help mothers from all walks of life.

Those lines are perfect examples as to why falling in love should never be the goal. Instead, the goal should be to rise in love so you can experience new dreams, do good, and touch each other in the most meaningful of ways. Be inspired to rise and be a better person with the love you have chosen. I'll tell you exactly how to do it.

Finding joy and healing as a Black parent

Parenting has never been an easy feat, yet the Black parenting experience is riddled with trauma and a burden that few can relate to. And still, we accept the challenge of overcoming and resisting that trauma by showing our children Black joy. In this presentation or panel, I can add to the conversation what healing and gentle parenting can look like while navigating our own traumas.
