Dr Wei Yang is a renowned town planner and urban designer. She is a lead figure in researching, promoting, and implementing 21st Century Garden City approach worldwide. She is President of Royal Town Planning Institute for 2021.

She has extensive experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and is now leading large scale regeneration and low carbon master planning projects in Britain and internationally.
Wei is the Founder and Chairman of Wei Yang & Partners, an award-winning UK master planning firm driven by a commitment to shape more sustainable and liveable places. The company specialises on 21st Century Garden City, which captures the essence of the original idea but adapting it to a more complex, 21st century context.
Another major focus of Wei’s work has been to help forge a closer UK-China cooperation on sustainable urbanisation. Over the last 10 years, Wei has become a key figure in China in promoting urban-rural balanced development approaches, focusing not only on economic growth, but also on social integration and environmental issues.
Wei’s professional achievements and leadership qualities have been recognised internationally. She is a Fellow of Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) and a Fellow of Royal Town Planning Institute (FRTPI). She is a regular chair and speaker at high-level international conferences. Wei is the Global Planners Network (GPN)’s representative at UN Habitat Professional Forum.
