My Origin Story: From Quiet Creator to Confident Communicator I’m an introvert by nature, and a creative at heart. I studied art and design, moved into graphic design, and eventually found my way into video game level design. Then I fell head over heels for stand-up comedy. I did it full-time for a while, didn’t become famous (shocking, I know), so I gave it up, returned to the games industry and started a family. While working at a games company, I sat through a painfully bad presentation and had a lightbulb moment. All those skills I’d honed on stage (writing, performing, connecting with an audience) were teachable, and could be used to help others communicate with confidence. Especially people like me: introverts, overthinkers, and quiet creatives. In 2013, I launched my coaching business, helping people in Cambridge, London, and beyond. Philip is on the boards of several entities within the wealth management industry, as well as of entities within family succession and philanthropic structures. Philip is actively involved in teaching in the areas of taxation, wealth management and family governance. Philip is a member of the adjunct faculties of Singapore Management University and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore (NTU). Philip is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Tanoto Center for Asian Family Business and Entrepreneurship Studies. Philip was the founder and CEO of LawInContext (now called Baker McKenzie Link), the interactive knowledge venture of global law firm, Baker & McKenzie. Philip retired from his CEO role with the company as from the end of 2010, and from his Chairmanship of the company as from the end of 2011. Philip was a partner of Baker & McKenzie, a firm he joined in 1982, and practiced in the area of international taxation throughout his legal career.
