Pierce Bush, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, is responsible for leading the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate 501c3 organization in the country. Pierce Bush started his journey with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a volunteer mentor to Jaylyn in 2009, and he was appointed to the Houston Regional Board in early 2012. Believing that Big Brothers Big Sisters embodies a mission that represents the American spirit of volunteerism and service to others, Pierce left his career in finance to join the staff full-time in October of 2012. Since joining the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff team in Houston, the Houston market has increased its reach by 65% more youth served. Through Pierce’s leadership, Big Brothers Big Sisters completed construction and capital campaign fundraising on a new, innovative, and highly visible $8 million Houston headquarters near downtown. Pierce became the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star in August 2015 with the vision to build on this success and impact more children across the state of Texas. Under his leadership, the agency launched the new strategic plan Vision 2×22. The strategic plan’s commitment to outcomes and the staff’s hard work have helped achieve success for Texas kids. 97.5% of Big Brothers Big Sisters mentees who graduate high school in the program are enrolling in college, employed or enlisted in the military in their first year as post graduates. In 2016, in Pierce’s first full calendar year as CEO, the consolidated Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star agency turned a corner financially and celebrated a cash flow positive year for the first time since Lone Star was created through mergers of various Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate agencies in 2010. Pierce earned a BA in American Studies from the University of Texas in Austin. Originally from Houston, Pierce splits his time between Houston and DFW to support BBBS efforts in North Texas. Pierce has been recognized by Houston Business Journal as the youngest member of the 40 under 40 class of 2016 and as an inaugural recipient of the Most Admired CEO award in 2018. In 2019 Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star was awarded the ALL-Star Award by the Great Game of Business Network for its use of transparent, open book-management tools to empower excellence across its organization. Pierce is married to Sarahbeth Bush, who is also a Big Sister in the program, and together they are the parents to a daughter, Adeline, and a golden retriever named Winston Moose. Pierce is the grandson of the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush and nephew of the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush.

Having been on a life-long journey to seek out optimal ways of living a healthy and happy life, I have received a tremendous amount of support along the way from friends and family. My passion is helping others, as I have been helped, with the experience, education, and wisdom I have gathered during the process. I am a veteran of the intelligence community in the United States Air Force, I have earned two bachelor's degrees, one in outdoor adventure leadership, the other in psychology. I continued onto a master's degree in mental health counseling where I focused on researching and teaching positive psychology, also referred to as a strengths-based approach. While I am living an adventurous and dynamic life, early in my journey something I could not name compelled me to investigate deeper than the average person. There were other aspects of me, that were calling out for help and I didn't know how to attend to them. I spent time reading books, seeking out seminars with wiser people and I enrolled in a master's in mental health counseling and spent years working on my own therapy. After all of this time and investment in healing, I am completely fixed! No, just kidding there, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that (though we all wish it did). I learned that it isn't about becoming perfect but more about becoming a near perfect steward of our imperfections. What does that look like? It could be smiling at ourselves when we are doing that thing we know we don't want to do (again), cultivating curiosity and getting to know ourselves better, releasing a need to punish ourselves for doing it "wrong" or not being "good enough." A manageable endeavor, though one that we often need help with as it comes more naturally for most of us to help others than to help ourselves. This is where my services become relevant, for people who are great at surviving but really longing for thriving. While my perspective is a unique one, I use resources from the masters. Some experts I draw from are Joseph Campbell, Joanna Macy, Carl Jung, Marshall Rosenberg, Marion Woodman, Eckhart Tolle, Richard Rohr, and many others. These leaders stand out because in their unique fields they are all able to clearly point to the sacred and how to honor it. The sacred is foundational in all of my services, we ask what really matters and how can we all show up better for it?
