Renesha's clients are the inspiration behind her blogs and First Novel: Mindset Reset. Through her work and personal experiences, she realized one of the biggest challenges people face is overcoming the restrictive thinking patterns they've developed. I attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, received a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University, a Master of Divinity from Luther Rice University, and I'm working on my Thesis in the Doctoral of Ministry from Liberty. As a former almost 500 lb male who struggled with morbid obesity for over 30 years, I took back my life in 2017 when I decided to have bariatric surgery and it completely changed my life in ways I never imagined. I lost 250 lbs in 15 months, and I re-dedicated my life to telling my weight loss story in the hopes it will help others. Losing weight is a physical bi-product of getting ones mental struggles with food in-check. Everyone is different, By the nature of us being individuals no two of us are alike. This is why diets don't work for everyone. It's why surgery isn't for everyone, its why exercise doesn't respond equally for everyone. So how do we help folks overcome obesity and their health issues related to being overweight? I believe it starts by helping each other. By sharing my story, and by sharing with you what I've done, what worked for me, and what didn't work for me.... perhaps you can pick and choose what might work for you. What makes me unique and different is I'm an open book. No topic is to personal, no question to private for me to discuss. I'm willing to hang it all out to dry in the hopes you'll see how you can potentially change your own life for the better. We like to believe that our situations are so unique and so private to us that no one else could ever relate to what I'm going through. The truth is, we are wrong. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people struggling with the EXACT same struggles you are, and I can introduce them to you and their stories. In 2018, I started a social media movement called WeighInRadio. It's a monthly podcast dedicated to motivating, inspiring and educating others on how to change their own life. I interview other weight loss patients, authors, doctors, physicians, nutritionists, surgery patients, fad dieters, or anyone else we can get on air regardless of their method used. We leave no stone un-turned and the knowledge and information is shared to inspire, educate, motivate, and inform you in the hopes it will assist you in regaining control of your own life so you can be successful in battling your own weight loss demons. Karen Nielsen, an author and speaker, is the co-founder of Widow Women Connect, a sisterhood of widows who connect, mentor and support each other through the wilderness of life after losing their spouse/partner. Karen lost her husband Robert to suicide in January of 2018, and through her pain and grief, realized she had a platform in which to help others. She speaks to groups on suicide prevention and mental health awareness, both of which plagued her late husband, as well as to those who have been left behind after losing someone to suicide. Being a witness to her late husband’s struggles in life, and his death, as well as her own life story, led to her first book: “Pathways: From Victim, To Survivor, And Beyond”, published in September 2018. Her second book “7 Ways to Heal from a Loved One’s Suicide” is due out in 2020. She received an International Literary Award in August 2019 from The Professional Woman Network for her writing on the loss of her husband and her journey after his death, in the women author’s anthology “Women of Courage”. Karen and her Widow Women Connect co-founder Roni Ketchum are co-authoring “You Are Not Alone ~ Widow Women Connect”, due out winter 2019, detailing their shared loss and their vision of being in service to other widows. And she passionately speaks on childhood sexual assault trauma and healing, placing a child for adoption, which includes being a birth mom, and her own battle with depression, anxiety and PTSD. Karen is also a mentor to women of all ages, helping them to find their self-worth and cultivate the ability to overcome adversities in their lives. She spent 30 years in the corporate world and only after her husband’s death, did she fulfill a lifelong dream of writing and becoming an author.
