Dr. Spero Lappas rose from poverty, family dysfunction, and a lack of opportunity to become one of the leading trial lawyers in Pennsylvania. He served as lead counsel in hundreds of important civil and criminal cases and has been honored in The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World, America's Leading Lawyers, and The Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers. His classic success story - position, prominence, and prestige - took an dramatic turn when at the age of fifty-eight he confronted the powerful realization that despite the rewards of his profession he was not living an authentic, fully integrated, life. Instead of conquering the life of his aspirations, he had become a passive rider on a runaway train of circumstance and routine. His desired destination - personal fulfilment - was nowhere on the route. His breakthrough book "Conquer Life’s Frontiers" arose from his discovery that lack of personal fulfillment is an all-too-common human condition. We all have a specific something that we would love to do or be - something that once demanded our full attention but which has, over time, morphed into a nagging sense of incompleteness which we have learned to accept. Dr. Lappas responded to his own incompleteness by developing a personal action plan which allowed him to begin teaching and mentoring young people as a college professor. Having fulfilled his true passion, he wrote Conquer Life’s Frontiers to express his promise that you can fulfill yours too - and to show you how to do it Lappas is a frequent community speaker and has taught at several colleges and universities. He has written for the Dickinson Law Review, the Champion Magazine, the Harrisburg Patriot News, The Burg Newspaper, The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography, and The Encyclopedia of American Studies. He writes a regular column about personal happiness and contentment in Life in Forest Hills Magazine and his work will soon appear in Natural Awakenings. He has a PhD from Penn State, a Juris Doctor (cum laude) from the Dickinson School of Law, and a BA (cum laude) from Allegheny College. He has two adult children, Doctor Thom Lappas and Attorney Alexandria Lappas, and one grandchild, Spero Edward Lappas. He is an artist, a prize-winning photographer, a tournament Scrabble champion, a world traveler, and a formerly nationally ranked three weapon fencer. "Conquer Life's Frontiers" is his first book.

Be immersed in fascinating facts about the world's most intriguing organisms that yield as much insight into our own lives as they do nature. In the spirit of biomimicry, the lessons explored will inspire you to think about competition, collaboration, opportunity, adversity, and survival in an entirely new light. In an eclectic combination of skills, Kurt MacDonald was an award winning science teacher and co-founder and director of a nationally-renowned Speech and Debate team. More recently, he is the founder of NatureSays (naturesays.org) and co-founder of The Professional Communicators (procommunicators.com), a public speaking coaching firm with a proven track-record of training c-suite executives, managers, team leaders, and entrepreneurs in the art (and science) of effective communication. In all these capacities, Kurt thrives on helping individuals proudly gain new knowledge and skills, and view commonplace situations through new, creative lenses. Spanning 25 years of his academic and professional career, Kurt has a long history of public speaking. He delivered the Most Outstanding Graduate address at the University of Colorado, Boulder, was a mainstage presenter at Scholar Search Conference, and an invited speaker at the Summit Advocates for Gifted Education. He presented at IgniteSTEM Columbia, and most recently gave a TEDx talk on finding opportunity in chaos. Kurt’s graduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience and 15+ years teaching evolutionary biology also provides a unique perspective and intriguing examples to illustrate essential elements of his talks. A particular expertise of his is in the field of behavioral biomimicry--where human institutions can realize improvement from studying analogous situations in nature. Kurt currently lives in Denver with his wife, two daughters, and their adopted greyhound.

Ted Meyer is a nationally recognized artist, curator and patient advocate who helps patients, students and medical professionals see the positive in the worst life can offer. Ted’s 18-year project “Scarred for Life: Mono-prints of Human Scars” chronicles the trauma and courage of people who have lived through accidents and health crises. Ted seeks to improve patient/physician communications and speaks about living as an artist with illness. Telling stories about his own art and the stories behind his scar art collection, he offers insight into living with pain, illness, and disfigurement. Ted has been featured on NPR and in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, and USA Today. His work has been displayed internationally in museums, hospitals, and galleries. As the current Artist in Residence at USC Keck School of Medicine, Ted curates exhibitions of artwork by patients whose subject matter coincides with medical school curriculum. Ted has curated shows by artists challenged by MS, cancer, germ phobias, back pain, and other diseases. In addition, he is a Visiting Scholar at the National Museum of Health and Medicine, invited to take part in the Aspen Seminars, was recently names The 2017 Sterling Visiting Professorship at Stanford University, and has been a TEDMED mainstage speaker. Ted’s rare niche mixes art, medicine, and stories of healing and survival, drawing from his experience as a lifelong patient of Gaucher Disease (an enzyme deficiency that affects bones and joints). Ted spent much of his childhood in severe pain. His work is influenced by his many hospital stays where he began mixing art and medical supplies. (How can you make something out of I.V. tubes, bandages and pipe cleaners?) Contorted, graphic skeletal images appear in his early paintings reflecting his belief that he would not reach his 30th birthday. He now considers himself normal and healthy; outliving friends, family, and early expectations. New drug treatments and joint replacements have improved Ted’s life and this in turn has changed his artistic direction, shifting from “Ted-centric” images to those that highlight other people’s health problems. His “Scarred for Life” series chronicles events that suddenly changed people’s lives. During an expansive narrated visual presentation, audiences come to understand how a lifetime of chronic illness impacts an artist’s work. Ted turns devastating illnesses into a source of artistic expression, giving voice to people around the world living with rare diseases and disfigurement. Ted’s painting have been shown around the world, from Europe, to Asia, and throughout the United States. With subject matter ranging from introspective, to down right humorous, his narrative always looks at human interactions.

When you sit down to meet with Jo Leonard she will immediately draw a circle on a piece of paper. The circle will contain your name and everything you tell her about yourself creates spokes. As the conversation deepens and you discuss your ideas, dreams, barriers and frustrations, the spokes will intersect and elongate, and soon an image will appear. This is how Jo thinks and brainstorms and this is why she is now in her 15th year as the go-to coach for teens and 20-Somethings. When the picture emerges she begins to collaborate with her clients to map out career and education goals and specific tactics to achieve them. When asked about her passion, Jo will tell you that she loves working with young adults. In the book “Drive” Daniel Pink discusses motivation, and how we have a deep need to direct our own lives, learn, create new things, do better by ourselves and in the world. "I believe that young adults need to feel in control of their education and career planning and be given the autonomy to make their own decisions. I was an intelligent but confused 20-Something, I didn’t have a specific career in mind, and I wasn’t a natural A-student. But I did have a strong work ethic, was taught to be independent, and I was given the skills needed to communicate and thrive in social settings and in the real world. I have all the empathy in the world for this demographic!" Jo has been asked to train and coach Fulbright Scholars, Ted speakers, undergrad and grad students, high school leaders and career starters. She speaks on the power of branding, reputation, networking, and the pitfalls and value of social media in a modern job search. Specialties: Personalized coaching programs to transition under and unemployed young professionals into rewarding careers. I was originally born in Spain. At the age of nineteen I came to the U.S. believing in the american dream. I was the first in my family to go to college, but as a girl I was told that I should "just have children." I seemed to have a knack for languages, law, and the fine arts, but my mind rebelled all the time. I wanted to create and learn the sciences. In high-school I failed English, Physics and Mathematics and I was told I would not amount to anything. I have since then talk more than seven languages, trained for the FBI academy, work at NASA as an engineer student, and at marine laboratories, hospitals, and even served in the U.S. Army. I wanted to become an astronaut or pilot, and almost did if it was not for my role as a mother. I have helped thousands of students here in the U.S. and overseas to open their horizons and dream the impossible and achieve the impossible as scientists, entrepreneurs, nursing students, or astronomers. My mission in life is to reprogrammed in students and people I coach old habits and wrong patterns and beliefs so they can share their own light into the world. Presently, I speak in events, published books around the world, and work as a professor serving health care students.
