As a young person, I was exposed to and experienced abuse on many levels, impacting my perception of love and self-worth. Unfortunately, I let it get the best of me for many years of my life. After being stabbed nine times at 17 during a street fight, my life began to shift. Laying in the hospital after almost being killed, I asked myself: "Why am I allowing the pain from my past to control my life?", "Why am I still here?" and "How can I use the challenges I've faced to help others?". Many of the answers to those questions, and the lessons I learn in the ongoing pursuit of my greatness and truth, are found in my books, shared in my speaking engagements, and facilitated through my efforts with You Are Valued - the movement to value others. The ultimate purpose of my work is to inspire others to see the greatness in who they are and let it shine through in all aspects of their life. David was born in Fontana, California and attended public schools in Riverside CA. David was seriously injured in his first career. A long recovery resulted in a permanent disability ending that career. He returned to school majoring in science and obtained a degree in Astronomy. Because of budget cuts and having not attained tenure, the position was eliminated in 1993. 1993 – Present (31 Years): David established his own traveling astronomy program under a private label that school children coined for him “Astronomy Man” with the slogan: “Astronomy Man – bringing the science of astronomy down to Earth.” The programs are Multi Media Educational / Entertainment Presentations for a General Audience nature based on Astronomy. Along with the "Live Lecture" presentations, telescope viewing is offered for attendees following the lecture. Guests have the opportunity to become the scientist, gathering data with their own eyes at the telescope. (Telescope viewing is always on a weather permitting basis) Astronomy Man has more than seven telescopes available with many being specialtised for solar viewing David is the author of “numerous” planetarium show scripts. He has been a guest speaker on various local radio programs and was the featured guest on ABC channel 7 Eyewitness News 1990 “Reopening of the Milliken Planetarium.” In 2022 he personally discovered a 118-gram meteorite sample in Alabama
