Joel Nagel

Joel Nagel is the founder of Nagel & Associates, LLC, an international law firm specializing in global corporate strategy and legal structures. He serves as Managing Partner, responsible for developing and implementing the law firm’s strategic objectives.

Nagel is an expert in international trusts and offshore asset banking and asset protection. Until November 2017 he also served as Ambassador for the Belizean government to the United Nations, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia.

Joel Nagel has studied at a number of international institutions of higher education. He was a Fulbright Scholar in 1987 at Rheinische-Fredrich Wilhelms University in Bonn, Germany and studied at The Hague Academy of International Law. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and German from Allegheny College, and then attended West Virginia University, where he obtained his J.D. In 1990, Nagel earned his L.L.M. from Georgetown University School of Law, graduating with highest distinction.

After completing his studies, Nagel joined the U.S. Department of Commerce, working in the Office of Chief Counsel for International Commerce. To further his passion for international law, he became Law Clerk for the Commission of the European Communities in Brussels, tasked to the Directorate-General’s Office for Competition Law.

In 1993 Joel launched his own specialty law firm—Nagel & Associates focusing on areas of international business structures, asset protection, and international law. The firm has secured a strong reputation for its tactical vision, providing expert advice to U.S.-based corporations on how to navigate and benefit from international strategic investments.

Using his vast experience in the global arena, Joel Nagel has successfully launched and managed the creation of several international investment projects. For instance, serving as a strategic adviser, Nagel guided an investment group with its efforts to develop a 2,500-acre resort complex on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua. Nagel also helped to structure a smaller boutique resort in Ambergris Caye, Belize under the Marriott® brand.

Joel Nagel has served on the Board of Directors of more than a dozen corporations and serves as strategic advisor to many domestic and international companies. He is sought out by the most popular business journals focusing on the topics of living and conducting business abroad. Nagel has been quoted in U.S. News & World Report, Forbes Magazine and is routinely featured in local news outlets.
