I am Lisa Cannon-Ratliff, a 17+year special education. teacher I am culturally experienced with diverse professional experience, having taught special education in both urban and suburban environments. I have also taught special education students in cross-categorical areas within Federal Settings I, II, III, and IV. I have focused on Emotional Behavioral Disordered categories over the past few years. Behavior Management and replacement strategies are my expertise.
Research and my professional experience have shown that many parents and teachers are unaware of how to advocate for their children in special education. FORHands Mentoring, LLC advocates for families affected by disability and the special education communities. We provide training on strategies for social emotional strategic replacements, and behavioral monitoring tools along with behavioral replacement skills. We believe the acquisition of these skills will foster a sustainable, inclusive level of community involvement. I have extensive experience with behavior management. I have extensive experience with behavior management tools.
As a licensed advocate, I provide:
• One-to-one counseling
• On-site support for individuals during school assessments/IEP meetings and district-level mediation
• Collaborative partnerships with county social workers to maximize understanding of resources and expectations for success
• Connections to available community resources
My experiences as a teacher and community liaison have helped students, families, and community advocates, by providing them with the tools to be productive in regards to social emotional wellness. As a licensed service provider, I understand and appreciate the role of collaborative teams play by identifying appropriate and available resources , by valuing all participants, and maximizing the opportunities to empower all participants who are affected by disabilities.
