Up and Away - Moving Into Software Management
A personal story of how moving from a traditional testing career to taking ownership for the whole software development process has influenced my views on testing. This includes how a testing career is invaluable when building and running teams who operate with quality at their heart and why we need to look outside of our own community in order to drive testing forward.
How I Lost My Job As a Test Manager
This presentation aims to present a view of test management that I think fits with the software development methodologies, and team structures that we typically see in IT today. It will use my personal experiences to explain why I think discipline based management is no longer relevant or required, and how Test Managers need to adapt to the new world of cross-functional, agile teams.
Testing Your Emotions
Testing is an emotional subject. It raised emotions within us as testers, and also other within the projects in which we work. In this talk I explore the situations that projects teams typically encounter and how these impact the emotions that everyone in the team faces. I also discuss typical dimensional models of emotion such as those proposed by Robert Plutchik and Hugo Lövheim.
