Life-changing moments such as the elimination of her then Fortune 500 marketing operations job, sparked her to look closer and reset her perspective on her identity, and what she had to offer. Taking a new outlook into the next job, led her to author the book Bring Your Crayon’s to the Office, published while employed at the company that inspired her to write it, and publicly embraced by that company’s (MGIC Corporation), then CIO, CTO, and Claim’s division VP. The life-altering confidence combined with the proven ability to scale changing careers enabled her to teach and coach the Agile mindset and Silicon Valley rooted Lean Startup principles to 600 plus professionals across three multi-billion dollar companies, including GE. For nearly two decades I've been immersed in understanding leaders: as a teacherr at West Point, as the architect of a high-potential leader development program at the world's largest company, and even while teaching in a medium security prison. I tell stories -- as a young lieutenant, I almost fired a tank round into the middle of a light infantry company. I later got my tank stuck in a swamp. And in my third year teaching at West Point a cadet asked me plainly: "Sir, why don't you love your daughter?" At amazon, I learned amazing lessons about organizational culture -- and share those stories with deep reflection. I then attempt to wrap that personal touch in the context of research, a Stanford Business School background, and the wisdom of other leaders. My keynotes have resonated with leaders from Microsoft's Bing team (even though I kept getting heckled for using "google as a verb), at a national conference of education administrators, and at an airline industry academy in China. If you've made it this far, then here's the official bio... Doug Crandall brings a depth and breadth of leadership development experience rivaled by few others -- with the added credibility of being a leader in his own right. A graduate of the United States Military Academy and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, he served for five years on the West Point faculty, earning the first-ever Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership. He conceived of and created an advanced version of West Point’s core leadership course. He also built from scratch West Point’s renowned Black and Gold Leadership Forum, and then finished his tenure at West Point by helping drive the first major revision of West Point’s core leadership course in over twenty years. From 2010-2016, he spent much of his time in Bentonville, Arkansas, creating and teaching Walmart’s premier leadership program for high-potentials and mentoring over one thousand executives from every division of the world’s largest company. Woven between his work with Walmart was an eclectic mix of leadership development engagements including international work in China and France, development and execution of leadership programs for J.P. Morgan and Wirtz Beverage, keynote addresses for McKinsey and Company, USAA, Gap, Riot Games, and many others, and three years mentoring over two hundred leaders at Mission Support Alliance on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. Mr. Crandall’s experience also includes substantial writing, having co-authored and edited Leadership Lessons from West Point, Permission to Speak Freely, and penning – with Major (Ret.) Scotty Smiley – Hope Unseen; he’s also written leadership case studies for Stanford and Harvard and authored multiple leadership articles.

I was born on July 24th, 2001; as the youngest of four children. I lived a very simple Montana childhood, but that wouldn't last. At the age of 11, I was diagnosed with Scoliosis: the unnatural curvature of the spine. I thought that it wouldn't be much of a problem. Two years later, I was going "under the knife" for an eight hour surgery that costed over $200,000. Five years later, my journey is far from over. However, this disability has given me a new ability: to leave a hand-print of the lives of others. In the last few years, I have devoted my life to helping others in any way I can; especially through the education of perseverance and initiative as well as the positive psychological effects of Servant Leadership. John Denver said it best when he said "peace is a conscious choice", so I have turned that into my life's philosophy. In my eighteen years, I have one thing to emphasize: if you strive today, you WILL thrive tomorrow!

I received a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2009. Prior to this I had been made redundant, lost a younger brother, had 3 failed IVF attempts and was plagued by various health issues. Since the operation I have achieved many things. Within a year I was climbing Snowdon. And since then I have walked the Yorkshire three peaks and Hadrian's Wall for charity. I have also held charity dinners and to date have raised around £15,000. I have also become a parent to two children, one through IVF and the other is adopted. I have been on national and local TV and radio, spoken in Westminster and am now an organ donation ambassador for NHSBT. I have also won a bravery award and medalled at the transplant games. My walks also include hikes in the dales and the Brecon Beacons. I have also been part of an international symposium looking at personalised medicine. My talk is to show and inspire that no matter what happens to us in life it is what we do with the opportunities presented to us. I have made the most of the things thrown at me by raising money and the profile of organ donation in both the local community and nationally also. I have completed a number of talks, including patient days and have the NKF annual conference as their post dinner motivational speaker coming up. Most recently at two separate rotary club events my talk was hailed as the best talk they have ever had. I believe I can impart a message of extreme positivity and inspiration to the people who hear it, regardless of whether they are people in industry, or health professionals and so on. As a member of a patient advisory group and two organ donation committees I have the skills and knowledge to back up my story and as an amateur actor can enthuse your audience by bringing them into my talk effectively and efficiently.
