For more than two decades Terry Wolkowicz has been designing innovative integrated arts educational curricula. She received her bachelor’s degree in music education from the New England Conservatory of Music and a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. Currently, Terry serves as President of Sound Explorations, a non-profit organization that creates educational videos, online games and live concert presentations where music is created to communicate scientific data and concepts. Personally, I was called to confront and grapple in adulthood with my childhood sexual abuse, leave a financially dominated marriage and face a horrific, dragged out divorce, AND a rare medical diagnosis resulting in medical trauma followed by donating my kidney during a global pandemic (deep breath!) all while distance schooling my kids as a single mom. That might seem like a lot- but I know I’m not alone. This has offered me a lesson or two about taking care of myself so that I can care for others. I believe it all stems with self compassion, boundaries, acceptance, and being very intentional in creating your own version of a best life! (For me, it is much slower than for many others (and far too fast for some).) I am a life coach & yoga mentor (and psychology student) helping others navigate change and create lives rooted in connection, expansion and thriving. I’d love to share my story with you.

I started off in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and massage therapist. I gained recognition FAST. I booked celebrity clients, I was on TV multiple times, hired for commercials and print work as a fitness model, I even signed a deal with professional multiple athletes and high-status personalities. It seemed like I had it made. I was getting paid to travel the world and do what I loved. I got to eat at the nicest restaurants, stay in the fanciest hotels, and network with some of the highest-level people in their industry. But there was always something tugging at my sleeve calling me to do something more for people, and the planet -- far beyond the money, the “influencer status” or the name that I had built for myself. I had always loved helping others, and along the way, began diving deeper into personal development work and psychology to sharpen my craft. Eventually, I started listening more to my intuition and followed where that calling led. My search for more led me to stretch beyond the confines of my mind and explore a range of modalities such as neurolinguistics programming, high-level leadership, reiki and energy work, breathwork, meditation, emotional freedom technique, tantra, emotional intelligence, cognitive behavioral therapy and more. As I ventured deeper, I realized: that to become the person I desired to become, I first have to learn how to BE in a different way. What unfolded next….wasn't easy. I decided to go deeper into my own healing than ever before. I addressed my traumas and toxic behavioral patterns and really had to unearth some deep-rooted stuff. It was all a necessary part of becoming a better leader for those who I passionately serve. I stumbled, fell, I made a lot of mistakes....I even found myself in homelessness for 3 months, but I picked myself back up over and over again…I kept moving forward, no matter what. My life depended on it. What this whole journey has taught me is to be unashamed by my desires, unafraid of the callings of my heart, and undaunted in my pursuit of a higher purpose. It also meant be willing to let go of the pressure I had put on myself over the years to build the IMAGE of success, and learn how to fall more into the FEELINGS that I wanted my life and my business to actually provide me. The more I learned and healed, the more I realized: that I wanted to help others discover that same freedom for themselves. ACTUAL FREEDOM….NOT JUST THE PORTRAYED IMAGE OF IT…. Joe Murray cannot be placed in a box. His whole life - both personal and professional - is defined by following ideas, not identities. Though he is a happily married gay man, Murray has worked alongside some of the conservative movement's key players (before gay conservatives became cool). By following ideas, Murray has worked to build bridges between communities that seem divided by major rifts. It is how he, a gay Catholic from New Jersey, was able to become President of his small, Southern Baptist Mississippi town's chamber of commerce. Murray started his professional career serving as Patrick J. Buchanan's speechwriter (during the 2000 election cycle). Murray obtained his juris doctor from Hofstra University and went on to work as an attorney for the American Family Association. During this time, Murray represented individuals that proclaimed homosexuality a sin and he did so due to his deep commitment to the First Amendment.
