As a three-time half marathoner and 30-year fitness enthusiast, I adapted long ago to the uncomfortable life of thigh chafing, 5 am workouts, and the never-ending search for the perfect sports bra. I'm also a member of the Democratic National Committee, and most recently, I've worked out with and interviewed candidates at all levels of elective office, from district attorney to Congress. My Are You Fit to be a Politician interviews and workouts are designed take back ownership of the label "politician" and to give voters a chance to hear directly from candidates...with less spin and more sweat.

Mitch Dowell is author of "Designed to Go The Distance: A Survival Guide for the Creative Professional", a book that touches upon many career and lifestyle issues specific to those in creative career fields – cultural topics that are not often talked about or adequately prepared for. A creative “pep talk” so-to-speak. And just like any pep talk in life, Mitch's presentations provide a healthy serving of food-for-thought, as well as a few tips along the way, too. Whether you are a graphic designer, artist, fashion designer, songwriter or a entrepreneur - or even a non-creative who needs to understand the mentality and culture more in-depth, Mitch's speaking events are engaging and informative.

I spent over 15 years as a content developer and a senior film executive at studios such as MGM and Sony, and then earned a PhD in psychology from UCLA where I researched the impact of media on children. This unique background informs my perspective. I work at the intersection of positive youth development, entertainment media and scientific research. The entertainment media that tweens and teens spend hours consuming shape their attitudes and behaviors, and as such can be an effective way to impact social learning. My hope is that the work I do addresses the critical matter of helping kids grow up healthy and safe in the 21st century. I strive not to give into the agenda of any “side” in the discussion, and instead speak to the facts while recognizing the perspective of all stakeholders (industry, parents, academics). Currently, I work with the national non-profit Common Sense Media and am an assistant adjunct professor at UCLA; I also frequently speak to a variety of audiences as well as consult for companies. Most importantly, I am the mom of two digital teens, a boy and a girl.

Louie La Vella: where the live event industry turns to when they need out-of-the-box-bursting marketing ideas. Ideas that win. "I was shooting an episode of our tv show and her manager approached us, asking if we can interview the brand new artist. No one knew her. We didn't have the time. But we were early adopters, forward thinkers, tried to predict the future." Those ideas, strategies and concepts will: Turn dead venues into packed venues, Slow ticket sales into sold out shows, Independent musicians into major-label-ass-kicking brands. Here’s the deal. As a business owner you are smart, savvy and have success under your belt. However, you’re also super busy operating your baby. You need to be working on your business not in it. Build strategies that work. What works in marketing today will not work tomorrow. Persuading customers has become difficult for those that don’t keep up to date and study consumer behaviours. However it is easy for those of us that know exactly how to persuade them. "By the way back to the story. I said yes and gave Lady Gaga her first TV interview, weeks after her major label signing."
