I talk about business and marketing strategies for social enterprises and businesses for good.
Strategy for Tough Times
"How to find revenue and choose where to put your effort (With war stories from Humanitix and Conscious Step) In this workshop, the attendees will learn the most effective way to take their ideas that matter to the world, galvanise people, and inspire them to take action. The Ethical CEO Adam Long will walk them through a simple yet powerful 4-step framework that will help their business have the impact it deserves in the new normal. By the end of the workshop, they will have a powerful plan to implement on Monday. After coming to grips with the reality and effects of COVID-19 and mourning for victims of social injustice, there’s no better time for businesses for good to take a stand. But where do you begin to move from words to impactful action? With hundreds of organisations overwhelming people with numbers and promises, how do you ensure yours doesn’t get tuned out? "
Digital Marketing Masterclass
"✓ Mastering Marketing Strategy ✓ How to test your concept ✓ How to help customers find you (when they’re already looking) ✓ How to find a customer (that’s never heard of you) ✓ How to maintain a relationship (get them to buy again) ✓ Do it, hire for it, or outsource it?"
Ethical Liars: Why Customers SAY They Care But Don’t BUY Like They Care
Go and ask a friend if buying ethically is important to them. Go on, ask them right now. I’ll wait. Of course they told you that Fair Trade is a must, carbon-neutral is essential, they only shop with equal-opportunity employers, and if it’s a local social enterprise that funds a koala sanctuary then THAT’S where they’ll shop all the time. But take a glance at their shopping basket (or their Amazon purchase history) and you’ll instantly see the truth: Ethics just DON’T matter the way people say they do. So what do you do if you’re a frustrated social enterprise, charity, or someone who gives a damn about the world? How do you overcome the myth of the ethical consumer? In this talk, we’ll unpack the science and psychology of how people make purchasing decisions, why ethics hardly has an influence, and how to make it matter. We’ll look at first-hand case studies from social enterprises that overcome the ethics gap, and hard lessons from some that didn’t.
