Lori Power
Lori Power

Owner

Canada

Lori is inspired by people, places, and their everyday adventures. Each day is made up of the moments to create the tapestry of life and Lori loves to collect these stories. In this she is a business owner, a writer, a public speaker, educator, zoom caster, and as we all are...so much more. Connecting people and serving the community are the joys that come with being the founder and business owner of MP Benefits Inc. Many companies overlook the strategic value of how benefits add to the productivity of staff, creating a bridge between the employee journey and customer experience. Stories connect people and help her clients align their culture and compensation through strategic benefits. This is the writers notion of show and tell ... we tell our employees our values and show our culture through the benefits we offer. Some team-building workshops of note, include: "Humour in Leadership" "DEI-Bias, the Sesame Street example" "Building employee rewards, outside of salary & bonus" "The "Art" of Communication" "What we leave behind--our legacy" Lori is a published author of fiction and non-fiction. The latest, non-fiction instalment "They'll Never Know" highlights the psychological relationship between people and insurance. From ancient Greek and Roman times, through to the Slave trade, 9/11, and beyond, the book uncovers people's real relationship to the notion of insurance. Are you curious to know IF the sinking of the Titanic was really an insurance conspiracy? How about the mobster who accidentally blew himself up in Montreal and the insurance paid out. There are stories of serial insurance fraud, faked deaths, mis-represented insured animals ... AND just how do celebrities insure body parts, and why? Her work has garnered attention. MP Benefits Inc. is the 2022 winner of the EBN Excellence in Benefits Award. She has been featured on the Corporate Connections Speaker’s series, Global News, CBC, the HR Reporter, Smokin’ Bulls podcast, the Advisor Advantage, Benefits Genius, BCC Drive Time, Every Other Wednesday corporate culture conversations, and hosts a weekly zoom cast entitled “Let’s Talk about this SHifT”. Lori is a Certified Facilitation Leader and holds the Queen’s University certificate for “Workplace Mental Health Leadership”. Through the Disney Institute for Business Learning she has achieved their accreditation in the first three cores: Leadership | Quality Service | Employee Engagement and has gone on to complete their “Leadership Excellence” and “Coaching for Peak Performance” certificates. As an advocate for continuing education, she is a member of Advocis, the Canadian Group Insurance Brokers (CGIB), and the Canadian Association of Life Underwriters (CALU) and is a regular presenter for Business Career College. And here is the "why"...life is a journey. Everyone you meet is a part of this. Thanks for including me in the adventure!
