I grew up on a dairy farm South of Kansas City Missouri in a town called Harrisonville. After attending University of Missouri in Columbia I moved to Elk City, Oklahoma My 1st oilfield job was in March 1981 for NL McCullough working as a wire-line hand. From there I became a Roustabout Foreman/Equipment Operator for C&C Roustabout and Dozer also in Elk City. As a Roustabout, I noticed the supply hands that would bring materials and fittings to location get a ticket signed then hop in their Climate Controlled vehicle and go on their way! It was just a short time later that I began my career in the Pipe, Valves and Fittings Supply Business. I broke out with Amfac Pipe and Supply then worked for Republic, Bovaird and LTV Energy Products.. and worked for Public Service Company as a Warehouse/Inventory Controller and Finally Four-Four Pipeline Contractors where I was Material Coordinator/Safety Superintendent. In 1988 I was hired as a Contract Radio Sports Announcer, for KADS where I continued working in the Oilfield during the day and did the games at night.. (I was the “Voice of Elk City Sports” for 28 Years) And in March of 2020, I was Awarded The Media Excellence Award for Many Years of Outstanding Media Coverage from the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) Finally in 1998 I was hired as a Full Time Sports Director and Sales Representative for Paragon Communications. In January 2012, I Began Co-Hosting "Exploring Energy" that airs locally 5 days a week and is heard world wide and I continue that today! I have been married to my wife, Gina since 1984, and have three Children; Elizabeth, McKenna and Levi, all born in Elk City, And I have three Granddaughters and one Grandson. I am an automotive engineer, trainer, and consultant, with over 25 years of experience as a powertrain calibrator for several major OEMs and the aftermarket high performance industry. My background and education is primarily in mechanical engineering (BSME with Automotive Specialty from GMI/Kettering University, 1999) and combustion systems. Engineering assignments had me working on the original Chevrolet Volt Hybrid fuel economy, evaporative leak detection on the 48 gallon fuel tank in the Ford F350, and torque control on Supercharged Dodge Hellcats. As a former high performance shop owner, I tuned thousands of unique combinations. I have lots of first hand experience with the challenges faced by tuners and enthusiasts alike who are constantly looking for an edge when it comes to engine and powertrain controls. I've had the rare opportunity to work on some really interesting projects over the years ranging from 9-second drag racers to the latest in gasoline direct injection technology and hybrids. In recent years, the challenge has been to deliver performance while meeting modern emissions standards. I have been teaching high performance fuel injection control since 2005. My first two books published in 2007 and 2009 continue to top the rankings in their genre on Amazon with over 90,000 copies sold worldwide and better than 4.5 star review ratings. My third book, released in 2023, focuses upon OBD and emissions. I have hosted classes across the US since 2005 and worked 1-on-1 with tuners, shop owners, and OEM engineers on a wide range of projects. As part of my OEM career, I have done calibration, emissions, and management work for GM, Ford, Lotus, Roush, and FCA. Understanding how emissions work is done at the OEM level allows me to help other industries with fewer resources and a desire to learn. De Morier is the author of Crib Notes for the First Year of Marriage: A Survival Guide for Newlyweds and Crib Notes for the First Year of Fatherhood: A Survival Guide for New Fathers, both from Fairview Press. De Morier’s first novel, Thirty-Three Cecils, won the top fiction prize at the London Book Festival, was named book of the year by Heroic Magazine, and was required High School reading.
