Meghna Bhat, Ph.D. (she/her) is an independent gender and social justice consultant, multidisciplinary artist, storyteller, interdisciplinary feminist scholar/educator, and an aspiring cultural practitioner based in California. Born and raised in India and currently living in the US, Dr. Bhat’s experiences encountering and witnessing recurring unpleasant cycles of gender violence and street harassment deeply motivated her to be an outspoken advocate and prevention educator. With 20 years of extensive work experience including gender-based violence research, training, technical assistance, and community education, Dr. Bhat strongly believes in the power of storytelling in creating community dialogue, shifting culture, and fostering ongoing decolonized narrative change. She has successfully presented and facilitated workshops and plenary sessions at statewide and national anti-gender violence conferences, hosted by the National Sexual Assault Conference (NSAC), Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence (OAESV), and the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV). As a 2022 Seeding Creativity Artist Grant recipient, Dr. Bhat created a multidisciplinary art project, Gulabi Stories: A South Asian Healing Initiative, which amplified and highlighted stories of healing within the larger South Asian diaspora. Eric Petty is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in Geriatrics in various care settings. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Hampton University in Hampton, VA and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Temple University in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Petty serves on the Board of Directors at the West Cabarrus YMCA in Concord, NC as the Board Chair, as well as serving on the Youth Sports committee and various sub-committees committed to building strong programs to serve the communities in and around the West Cabarrus county area. As a youth sports coach with experience coaching soccer, basketball, and football, Dr. Petty has been able to stay very active with his three children Caleb, Kylie, and Quincy as well as many other children in the community he serves. Dr. Petty recently expanded his connection with the youth after joining Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in early 2018 and becoming a part of the Children’s Church ministry. He has embraced teaching the “Lesson” to the children every third Sunday, which mimics the sermonic portion of Children’s church. Finally, Dr. Petty has been married to his High School sweetheart Quinn Petty since 2006, although their relationship spans back to 1995. Dr. Petty has adopted an objective of service through his various efforts in his community and beyond. With his background for serving seniors, Dr. Petty has founded The SixtyFive Movement, which is centered around the well-being and outlook for the Seniors of today and of tomorrow. With his connections in his community, his publishing company, and his growing presence as an author and a speaker, Dr. Petty plans to execute a plan that will be a catalyst for current and prospective seniors to truly live their best lives for as long as possible. As a college athlete, I was a part of the eighty-five percent of players that didn’t get into trouble and didn’t have major issues with grades. However, it took me until my senior year to figure out what I was going to do after graduation. Prior to making this decision, I believed I was going to play football professionally, so I didn’t seek out other professional development opportunities and not many were afforded to me. Thankfully, I was able to find an opportunity that allowed me to transition into the next phase of my life after graduation. Sadly, there were many young men that weren’t as blessed - I see this as a problem.
