As a young vulnerable teenager I got into a relationship with an abusive man. Here, I stayed for 16 years. During this relationship, I was physically, sexually, financially, emotionally and verbally abused on a daily basis. I was a broken soul in a very dark world. I had two children whilst in this relationship who became my saviours. My children bared witness to all of the abuse their father conflicted on me. I am is now free and safe from this man. How ever, the trauma of the past had left me with mental health issues. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and have to continually see a therapist to improve myself. I have made it my mission to educate the next generation on what a healthy relationship should look like, how to identify the signs of unhealthy relationship and what abuse may look like. I grew up in an abusive, and very dysfunctional family. Both of my parents have been to prison, I endured traumatic sexual abuse, and many severe forms of bullying in childhood and early adulthood. I am an autistic man with severe limitations, I became aware of this when the spotlight was finally shown on me. I received diagnosis after my 3yr old son was diagnosed with autism. I struggled my whole life, I was mostly discarded, neglected, or misunderstood. When I became aware of this it was like lifting a veil, I know there are other young adults and young children right now who need a voice. Someone to explain that there's a word for why they are how they are, I embrace my autism, many on the verbal capable spectrum of autism don't often get diagnosis till much later in life. I want to help educate and bring awareness to these children, and adults. Doing this will allow me to wake bullies from their proclivities, and it will help others realize that they are not alone.
