Marx was born and raised in rural Illinois. Throughout high school he intended to become a Christian minister, however once he graduated Tracy's attention turned toward the profession of theatre. After graduating with an A.S. degree from Wabash Valley College, he pursued two more years of studies in theatre, music, and business. Tracy transferred to Johnson University in Knoxville, TN, where he majored in Bible and specialized in Media Communications and Preaching.
